DAILY READINGS: Leviticus 7:11-38; Psalm 107; Acts 28:17-31 Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given Me, be with Me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given Me: for thou lovedst Me before the foundation of the world. John 17:24
The expression “father” is indicative of sonship and submission. The Lord Jesus said that He always did the things that pleased the Father and suggested He was not here on earth to please Himself. He was obedient to the Father’s will. Here, however, in His prayer He, on the one hand, says, “Father”, yet on the other, says, “I will”! What was it He felt so strongly about? It was that those He loves should spend eternity in His presence. —Roy Hill
Beneath the mount is toil and pain; O Christ Thy strength impart; Till we, transfigured, too, shall reign, forever where Thou art. —A. Chatfield |
