DAILY READINGS: Exodus 17; Psalm 55; Acts 9:32-43 I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they have addicted themselves to the ministry of the saints,). 1 Corinthians 16:15
Many people are addicted to some vice or habit that results in sorrow and regret. Yet not all addictions are bad. Paul admired the brethren in Achaia for their addiction. But addicted to what? The ministry of the saints, serving God’s people. They set themselves to serve the people of God. What an honour! What is the result of such an addiction? The Lord Jesus said after washing His disciples feet, “if ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.” —Sid Halsband
I wonder have I done my best for Jesus, Who died upon the cruel tree? To think of His great sacrifice at Calv’ry! —Ensign Edwin Young |
